These Terms of Use set forth the terms for using the website, community service, etc. offered by SHUEISHA INC. under the name "MANGA Plus Universe by Shueisha".

  2. Shueisha: Refers to SHUEISHA INC.

In these cases, consent of the User is not required to alter these terms of Use, and usage conditions for this Website and the Service correspond to what is stated in the altered terms.
  3. For alterations Shueisha deems to be important from among the alterations of the previous paragraph, Shueisha shall set a reasonable prior notice period in advance and issue notice of the fact that alterations will be implemented, the content of the alterations, and the timing at which the alterations will take effect by listing such on this Website.
  4. If the User uses the Service after a change in these Terms of Use has taken effect, this usage constitutes consent to all content written in these Terms of Use after the change. If a User cannot consent to the new Terms of Use, that User cannot use the Service.

Article 4: Usage and Posts by the User

The User may use this Website and the Service within the scope set forth by Shueisha according to conditions like age, usage environment, etc.
  2. The User must use this Website and the Service their own risk. The User is also responsible for obtaining and maintaining a mobile device and any other device required to access and use this Website and the Service, and for implementing security measures corresponding to their own usage environment (prevention of computer virus infection, unauthorized access, and information leakage, etc.) The User is responsible for paying telecommunications fees and other expenses required to use this Website and the Service.
  3. Shueisha bears absolutely no liability for compensation, or any other kind of liability, concerning any and all damages arising for the User in the usage of this Website and the Service.
  4. If any problems arise between the User and a third party, such as receiving a claim from a third party concerning usage of this Website and the Service, the User shall manage and resolve such with that third party directly, and Shueisha shall not be involved whatsoever.
  5. If the User damages Shueisha or a third party through the use of this Website and the Service (including damage suffered by a third party or Shueisha arising from the User not executing obligations pursuant to these Terms of Use), the User shall issue compensation or otherwise resolve the situation under the sole responsibility and at the expense of the User, and shall not impose any liability whatsoever on Shueisha.
  6. Shueisha cannot respond to any requests from the User for deletion of or revision to Posts once they have been uploaded.

Article 5: Advertisements and third-party services

  1. Shueisha can include advertisements for Shueisha and third parties within this Website and the Service.
  2. Transactions between the User and sponsors of advertisements included in this Website and the Service are to be conducted at the risk of both parties. Shueisha is not liable whatsoever for any damages arising due to advertisements included in this Website and the Service and damages arising from what is included.

Article 7: Prohibitions

    • (11) Posts or conduct that include unfair discriminatory language concerning ethnicity or nation (or such origin), or race, skin color, family of origin, lineage, region of residence, religion, beliefs, creed, disabilities, illnesses, physical characteristics, gender, jobs, social status, academic history, status of standard of living, etc., posts or conduct that condone, encourage, or incite discrimination, posts or conduct that slander or libel an existing person, an ethnicity, a religion, a nation, etc. or that deny or distort, or commend or praise, a history of discrimination, slaughter, etc., posts or conduct that condone, encourage, or incite hate speech or hate crime concerning such, or posts or conduct with excessively violent or cruel language, explicit sexual language, language that aids or abets criminal acts, or language including any other kind of antisocial content.
    • (12) Posts or actions intended for sales, advertising, or other profit-making purposes.
    • (13) Posts or actions aimed at meeting or soliciting unfamiliar individuals.
    • (14) Posting the name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address of yourself or another person, or information that can identify a specific individual, or posting for the purpose of collecting personal information of other people.
    • (15) Posting with text, language, or character strings that is undecipherable by general users.
    • (16) Posts that repeat the same content excessively.
    • (17) In addition to the conduct set forth above, any posting or conduct that violates public order and morals, the Copyright Act, other laws, or penal law, conflicts with the " MANGA Plus Universe by Shueisha User Guidelines " separately established by Shueisha or which Shueisha deems to be inappropriate.
  2. If any of the posting set forth in (9) - (17) of the previous paragraph is discovered, Shueisha will delete the Post at its own discretion, without issuing prior notice to the User. Additionally, Shueisha can make the comment, etc. unviewable to the User who engaged in the posting or displaying, and to other Users.
  3. If Shueisha deems it necessary to protect this Website or the Service, other rights and assets of Shueisha, or the life, limb, or property of a third party, Shueisha can disclose or supply the User Post content and User information to a public body such as a court of law or the police.

Article 8: Copyrights, etc.

  1. All copyrights (herein, and hereinafter, including the rights set forth in Article 27 and 28 of the Copyright Act of Japan) and other intellectual property rights concerning this Website, the Service, and all information related to the Service belong to Shueisha or the rights holder permitting usage of such to Shueisha, and the User cannot use such in excess of the usage conditions set forth in these Terms of Use or the scope recognized in the Copyright Act. The User shall not engage in any conduct whatsoever concerning this Website and the Service that infringes, or could possibly infringe, on the rights of Shueisha or a third party.
  2. While copyrights concerning User Posts do belong to the User, Shueisha has exclusive permission to use the content of User Posts as-is or in an altered form, and the User shall not exercise moral rights as an author.
  3. When the User posts or displays comments, etc., the User shall obtain necessary permission from the creator of, portrait right holder for, or parties involved with the comment, etc. so that Shueisha or a third party designated by Shueisha can use the comment, etc.

Shueisha is also not liable whatsoever even if this Website or the Service is not properly usable because of an environment change due to a device type change or an OS or browser update, etc.

Article 11: Temporary suspension or interruption of this Website and the Service

  1. If Shueisha deems necessary, Shueisha may alter or eliminate the entirety or a portion of the Service without consent from the User.
  2. Shueisha may temporarily suspend a portion or the entirety of this Website or the Service for system maintenance. In this case, Shueisha shall issue prior notice to the User. However, if any of the following grounds arise, Shueisha may suspend or interrupt the entirety or a portion of this Website or the Service without issuing prior notice.
    • (1) When conducting urgent maintenance to facilities for this Website or the Service, etc.
    • (2) In the case of phenomena for which Shueisha is forced to take action for operational or technological reasons such as system trouble, communications line interruptions, etc.
    • (3) When it is impossible to provide this Website or the Service due to a fire, blackout, etc.
    • (4) When providing this Website or the Service is difficult due to a natural disaster such as an earthquake, flood, tsunami, etc.

Article 12: Suspension or revocation of usage eligibility

  1. If Shueisha recognizes that any of the following apply to the User, Shueisha may suspend the usage eligibility of the User and restrict usage of this Website and the Service.
    • (1) When the User has engaged in conduct that violates, or could possibly violate, these Terms of Use
    • (2) When the User has not logged in for a long period of time and it can be deemed that the User is not using this Website or the Service
    • (3) If for any other reason it is inappropriate for the User to continue using this Website or the Service
  2. If Shueisha deems that the grounds of the previous paragraph have been resolved, Shueisha may remove the temporary suspension at its own discretion.

Article 13: Prohibition on assignment

The User cannot assign the entirety or a portion of the eligibility, rights, or obligations as a User to a third party or engage in conduct such as loaning such, changing the name of the account owner, or offering such for the establishment of a pledge or as collateral.

Article 14: Disputes with third parties

  1. If a dispute arises between the User and a third party concerning this Website or the Service, the User, as a party to the dispute, shall be responsible for resolving the dispute at their own expense. If Shueisha, other users, or third parties suffer damages due to or in relation to the dispute, the User shall compensate such.
  2. If an infringement to the rights of a third party arises due to the User, and compensation money or any other expenses arise to Shueisha concerning claims or demands from the third party, the User shall, as a party to the dispute, pay compensation money for such and any other expenses (including lawyer fees).

Article 15: Termination of this Website and the Service

  1. Shueisha will terminate this service on May 13, 2024 and close this website on July 1, 2024.
  2. If the User suffers any kind of damage due to the termination, Shueisha is not liable whatsoever.
  3. After termination of this Website and the Service, Posts may be deleted. Shueisha has no obligation to back up Posts. Users who need backups should back up their Posts on their own.

Article 16: Damage compensation

  1. If damage arises for Shueisha or a third party due to a violation of these Terms of Use by the User, or if the User damages Shueisha or a third party through their conduct, the User shall compensate the damage.
  2. If these Terms of Use constitute a consumer contract as defined in Paragraph 3 of Article 2 in the Japanese Consumer Contract Act (Act No. 61 of 2000), provisions in these Terms of Use that completely exempt the damage compensation liability of Shueisha do not apply. In this case, if the damage arising for the User is based on default by or illegal conduct of Shueisha, Shueisha is liable for paying damage compensation not to exceed the damage directly suffered by the User. However, this does not apply in the case of gross negligence on the part of Shueisha.

Article 17: Language, governing law, and jurisdictional court

  1. These Terms of Use were drafted in the Japanese language, and the Japanese text is the original. Translations into any other languages are mere reference copies only, and if any discrepancies arise with the Japanese language version, the Japanese version shall prevail.
  2. These Terms of Use are governed by the law of Japan. For any disputes arising due to or in relation to these Terms of Use, the Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court will be the agreed upon exclusive jurisdictional court of first instance.
